This is my second year at Cotteral Elementary and I am so excited to be working with your little ones!  I have been teaching various grade levels for 15 years, however, this will be my sixth year as a first grade teacher! I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) and my Master’s degree in Deaf Education from Lamar University.

My husband, Chris Raney, is a teacher and football coach at Guthrie Jr. High.  We have three children. Our two boys, graduates of Guthrie High School, are, both, attending OSU and studying Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.  Our daughter is a Freshman in College. She is studying Nursing, probably specializing in Labor and Delivery.  If any of you have advice for her, we would love to hear from you!

The most important thing you and I can do for your child at this age is to instill a love for reading!  Every subject they encounter from now until the end of their education journey and on into everyday life will require them to read!  We will do this by working on sight words, reading to them and having them read to us, preferably, books they have picked out and are interested in!  It is going to be a great year!
