Discipline Plan

DISCIPLINE PLAN

Dear Cotteral Parents,

I believe all my students can behave appropriately in my classroom when they know what I expect.  I will tolerate no student stopping me from teaching and/or keeping other students from learning.  In order to guarantee your child and all the students in my classroom the excellent learning climate they deserve, I am utilizing the following Discipline Plan starting immediately.

The Eight Class Expectations are:

We will value one another as unique and special individuals.

We will not laugh at or make fun of a person’s mistakes, use put-downs or sarcasms.

We will use good manners, saying “Please, thank you, excuse me” and allow others to go first.

We will cheer each other to success.

We will help each other whenever possible.

We will recognize every effort and applaud it.

We will encourage each other to do our best.

We will practice virtuous living using life principles such as honesty, integrity, respect, etc.

The Class Rule:    Make no problems—

                                    for yourself, others, your teacher or your parents.

After we have gone over the class rule and expectations, practiced them, and I’m confident the students know what I expect, the following consequences will be enforced.  Consequences may include but are not limited to:

*   Removal from the situation (head down or time out/thinking time)

*   Loss of a privilege

*   Call or note home

*   Meeting with the principal

A severe disruption or infraction would include a team meeting with the teacher, parents, student and principal.  See the Guthrie Elementary Schools Student Handbook (Section I) for additional discipline information.

It is in your child’s best interest that we work together in relationship to his/her schooling.  I will keep in contact with you regarding your child’s progress in my classroom.  Please sign and return the attached form.  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to call, write, or email me.
