Hello - As Cotteral Elementarys new principal , I encourage parents to take part in their child's education by staying in the know. Please join Cotterals Facebook page and join our parent REMIND. I am excited for our new adventure together and am hopeful for a fun, positve school year.
Now a little about me - I am a 1997 graduate of Guthrie High School, I also have a bachelors degree from the University of Central Oklahoma as well as a masters from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Previously I taught first grade for five years, I have also taught Pre-K, Kindergarten and have served as an assistant principal. I am married to Jason Cotton and we have three sons; Brenan is 18 years-old, Ethan is 12 and is currently in 6th grade and Henry is 9 and in the 3rd grade. I was born and raised in Guthrie and am a huge advocate for this community. My family and I attend the First Christian Church and we are all very proud to call ourselves Bluejays! Besides my family I love gardening, Hobby Lobby, Sonic drinks and the OSU cowboys.
I encourage nightly reading with your student for a minimum of 15-20 minutes an evening. Ask your child what they have learned in school each day and make sure they are getting plenty of exercise in the evenings.
You may acces your child's Google classroom and educational computer programs through their Clever account. If your student has trouble accessing their Clever account please reach out to their classroom teacher. Make sure you are signing planners and checking folders nightly for important notes and papers.
