Junior English and AP Lang

 At school I use my love of the English language to empower students with the knowledge they need to read and write well. I try to apply the literature we read to their daily lives. I work to lead them in discussions to make them look at all sides of an issue. We work hard in class on being good citizens, looking out for each other and trying to prepare to be the best the world has to offer. I am a rule follower, and expect my students to follow the rules set forth in our handbook. I have taught for over 25 years and hold teaching certificates in three states. I earned my Master's in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessments from Baker University. 

 At home I enjoy my eight grandchildren every chance I get, my five grown children, their spouses and my husband. I love to cook for the big clan. Besides my family, I spend my spare time reading, taking photos, swimming, going to ball games, playing with our three dogs and enjoying the family farm. 

I grew up and graduated from high school in Cleveland, OK. I attended the University of Oklahoma, where I was a third generation Sooner. My husband and I and our children later moved to the absolute most northeastern part of Kansas where I taught and we lived for almost 20 years. My five children all graduated from high school in Hiawatha, KS. We moved back to Oklahoma in 2008, and I have taught in Oklahoma schools since then. I like to think that teaching is my passion, not just my job.
