I am beginning my eighth year as principal and my 29th year in education.
As we embark on the next stage of the voyage to achieve even greater academic and extracurricular success, I encourage you to join the faculty, staff, and students in our never-ending pursuit of excellence!
At Guthrie High School, our students, teachers, parents and community members can expect a culture of excellence whereby physical, emotional and environmental conditions support our efforts.
My goal as the high school principal is to ensure that all of our students graduate in four years with the skills necessary to either begin college or successfully enter the workforce. Our world is changing at a very rapid pace! Many of the jobs of which we are preparing our students have yet to be created. Therefore, it is extremely important that our students learn to think critically and problem solve. As principal, I am committed to providing our students with the technology and resources that will allow them to compete in the global economy of the 21st Century.
I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1991 with a BS in Secondary Science Education. I received my MS in Educational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University in 2005. Prior to being an administrator, I was an 8th-grade science teacher/coach at Guthrie Jr. High for 15 years. I am Chair of the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA) Executive Committee, Past-President of the Oklahoma Association of Secondary School Principals (OASSP) and serve as the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Advocacy Coordinator for the state of Oklahoma. I can be followed on Twitter @Chris_MLeGrande
As you can see from the pictures, I am a proud father of three beautiful daughters; Trista--21, a senior nursing major at Southern Nazarene University, Trenda--18, a freshman nursing major at Southern Nazarene University, and Trinity--16, a sophomore at GHS. In addition, I am the spouse of Mrs. LeGrande, Computer Science/Yearbook teacher at Guthrie Jr. High.
I enjoy spending time with family, running road races, and attending Bluejay sporting events. I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that the 2019-2020 school year will bring. As a proud GHS graduate of 1986, I consider it an honor and privilege to be able to lead the same school that provided me with fond memories and lasting relationships. If I can be of assistance, please feel free to either call or email at any time!
